YOUR DAILY ITINERARY FOR MEXICO CITY
Day 1: Depart for Mexico City. Upon arrival we will be greeted by our local guide and transfer to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: After Breakfast we will depart for our 20-minute drive to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our tour guide will show us all four apparition sites and we will celebrate Holy Mass at Basilica of Guadalupe. We will have time for lunch and shopping and return to our hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 3: After breakfast, we will visit Santa Veracruz Monastery for guided tour and free time to explore. Have celebration of the Holy Mass. In the afternoon, we will return to the hotel
Day 4: After breakfast we will depart for Holy Family Church in Mexico City where we will celebrate Mass and visit the museum and tomb of our Catholic hero, Blessed Miguel Pro who died a martyr’s death in 1927. We also will visit the church that Juan Diego attended and was baptized in. More time for sightseeing and shopping before returning to our hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 5: After breakfast we will depart for a visit to Coyoacan an artistic and cultural area where we will celebrate Holy Mass in the Church of San Juan Bautista surrounded by beautiful gardens. More sightseeing of Coyoacan. On the way back to our hotel we will drive by the house of the famous artist Frida Kahlo. Arrive at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: After breakfast we will depart for the airport for our return flight home. Vaya con DIOS!
Story of our Lady of Guadalupe:
On December 9, 1531, a native Mexican named Juan Diego rose before dawn to walk to daily Mass in what is now Mexico City. As he passed Tepeyac Hill, he heard music and saw a glowing cloud encircled by a rainbow. A woman’s voice called him to the top of the hill. There he saw a beautiful young woman dressed like an Aztec princess. She said she was the Virgin Mary and asked Juan to tell the bishop to build a church on that site.
